LUCES
The LUCES
(Latino Unidas Combatiendo la Epidemia de SIDA) program provides
HIV and syphilis prevention services to young African-American and Hispanic
young women between the ages of 13 and 29 and to persons living with
HIV. The
targeted populations learn techniques to prevent both HIV and Syphilis.
Specifically, those who are living with HIV learn ways of communicating
and
changing behavior to reduce repeat transmissions while living a healthy
lifestyle.
The LUCES program’s overall activities include outreach, workshops
and
group/individual sessions that educate and promote specific ‘prevention’
skills.
The program’s goal is positive behavior change that leads to a
reduction in
HIV and syphilis transmissions.
