 Family Resource Center and Health Education Department

°  Part-time HIV Health Educator (Camden): This individual’s primary responsibility is to conduct outreach with high risk males in high risk areas.  Outreach is coupled with health education and HIV testing.  This position requires experience in health education and in working with high risk males.  It also requires bilingual abilities (English/Spanish).  Must become certified and trained in HIV outreach and testing within three months of employment.

°  Part-time Asthma Health Educator (Camden): This individual’s primary responsibility is to conduct outreach with families who have children affected by asthma.  Outreach is coupled with home and office based health education interventions.  This position requires a BA degree, experience in health education, and experience in working with families (English/Spanish).  Must be willing to work in home settings.

Family Counseling Clinic & Energy Assistance (Camden) Department

° Bilingual (Spanish/English) Substance Abuse Counselor or Counselor Intern: This individual will provide direct individual and group counseling utilizing best practices and designated curriculum; interview consumers individually and/or in groups to assess their level of substance use, their coping strategies, the consequences of drug use (physically, mentally, spiritually and economically), their natural and institutional supports and their environmental situation to determine a proper course of treatment. The ideal candidate will posses knowledge of addictions, typical consequences and various treatment methods; conduct individual and group counseling compassionately using ‘best practices;’ engage consumers while maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries. Must be able to use various computer programs proficiently including but not limited to: NJ SAMS, Electronic Client Records, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc. CADC preferred. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice or related field; OR five years of substance abuse counseling experience.

° Fee For Service Therapists: Masters level clinician who works with the severely and persistently mentally ill population in providing therapeutic counseling services. Responsibilities also include: facilitation of psych-educational group counseling sessions; review, design, update, and implementation of treatment plans with clients; provide referrals to HFC psychiatrist to ensure appropriate psychiatric service delivery; coordinate services with staff psychiatrist and other providers; and maintain accurate and timely records, documents and files. Must be bilingual (English and Spanish) and possess a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.

° Life Skills Prevention Specialist (part time): This individual is responsible for providing prevention education to the youth and adolescent population in schools. Requires travel throughout the community to local schools. Bachelors degree required along with good communication skills, a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record. Fluency in both English and Spanish required.

Program and Organization Management

The Assistant Program Director (bilingual in English/Spanish), based in Camden, provides supervision and oversight to the staff and programs of the Family Counseling Clinic (FCC).  The FCC department includes: outpatient and partial care mental health services; outpatient substance disorder treatment services; substance abuse prevention for youth; and low income heating and energy assistance program.    Assists Program Director with hiring and training staff,  supervision, report completion, promoting visibility of services to external stakeholders, ensuring achievement of program goals/objectives and promoting quality assurance and enhancements of services rendered.  This individual also represents HFC at assigned external meetings and events to promote the programs offered through the Family Counseling Clinic.  Must possess a Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling.  LCSW or LPC strongly preferred.  CCS or LCADC preferred.  Also requires five years of human services experience and two years of program management experience.

Internships

The Hispanic Family Center offers an internship program to BSW and MSW students enrolled in local colleges and universities. Students taking part in the program are paired with an experienced staff member who also serves as their internship advisor. HFC works with areas colleges to allow students to receive college credits for their internship experience. Please note, we receive many applications for interns.
