In order to prevent the development of asthma in small children, the Hispanic Family Center works with parents and pregnant women to teach the steps that they can take in their homes and daily lives to prevent children from developing the disease and to lessen the severity of asthma attacks.
In addition to group sessions, the Hispanic Family Center offers prevention case management. Case managers visit the homes of program participants to develop and implement individualized prevention plans.
